Torrevieja is knowns for its salt lakes (salinas) which are free to visit. The salt lakes of Torrevieja en La Mata are also the largest of Europe.
You can’t visit the salt lakes without visiting the Sea and Salt Museum (museo del mar y la sal). This museum gives you al the information about marine live and the live along the salt lakes. Thanks to all the archaeological pieces , found along the coast, you get a image how life has evolved through the centuries. The museum is divided in different sections such as marine archaeology, salt mining, fishing, coast navigation, saline craftworks en factories.
In the town center you will find the church of la inmaculada (Iglesia Arciprestal de la Inmaculada Concepción) a neoclassical building in the shape of a Latin cross with a tube roof and a simple entry stressed by the two bell towers. On the inside you will notice the artwork of the holy virgin and Christ.
The Cultural Casino (Sociedad Cultural Casino) was founded in 1882. Striking in the interior is the main salon, the Moorish Room, especially known for its exhibitions of the work of literary highly appreciated authors. From its terraces, you have a beautiful view over the harbour. These days lots of exhibitions en cultural activities are being held here.
From Paseo Marítimo Juan Aparicio you go to the Paseo de la Libertad. Striking is het Monument of The fishermen at the beginning of the Paseo. The monument for the fishermen (Monumento al Hombre del Mar) brings honour to the union of the sailors.
The park of the nations (Parque de las Naciones) has a scope of 26.000m² and is entirely fenced. In the park you will find a lake of 6000m², several species of animals and vegetation which is authentic to te Mediterranean see. Also you can visit a territory for iguana, water turtles and a lot of attractions for children.
In the museum Ricardo Lafuente you will find several souvenirs, photos and awards of the master Ricardo Lafuente Aguado, writer of several music pieces en actual director of the choir and orchestra Salinas de Torrevieja.
The tower of Cabo Cervara or the Moorish tower (Torre del Cabo Cervera of Torre del Moro) was build in the 14the century en belongs to one of the oldest buildings of the city and is the emblem of the city. The tower was build as a lookout and defence point against pirate attacks.
The tower is the center of te park Mirador Turístico de la Torre del Moro designed with a stunning panoramic view over the coast.

The eastern dock (Dique de LEvante) open since 2000 is thet best place to look out over the Mediterranean See and Torrevieja. Here you will also find the statue of the women waving at the fishermen (La mujer que despide al marinero).
